Month dates above are for zones 5 and 6, the middle of the country. For other zones, shift a few weeks: earlier in the south, later in the north.

Spring Bulbs: Plant in Fall

September through November is the season for planting tulips, daffodils, crocus, and hyacinths. Plant 6 to 8 weeks before the ground freezes hard, pointy side up, at a depth of about 3 times the bulb's height.
